Engine-driven welders and generators.
Welder generators and site generators work hard in the worst conditions: mud, rain, dust and long hours. We service and repair the engine and the welding side, so you get a machine that starts, welds and powers tools safely.

Two machines in one
An engine and a welding set. Both need looking after.
A welder generator is a diesel or petrol engine driving an alternator that supplies the welding output, and usually auxiliary power for tools and lights as well. When one goes wrong, it can be the engine, the alternator, the welding controls or the power outlets, so it needs someone who covers both.
We cover the lot: engine servicing, fault finding on the welding and power side, and electrical safety testing of the outputs before it goes back to site.

Engine side
Starts first time, every time.
- Scheduled servicing: oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter
- Cooling system: coolant, hoses, radiator and fan belt
- Fuel system: water separation, contamination, leaks
- Starting and charging: battery, starter and alternator charge
- Engine faults: diagnosis and repair, with parts from the engine manufacturer where available
Welding and power side
Safe output, accurate settings.
- Welding output: current and voltage checked against the controls
- Insulation and earth continuity on the welding circuit and auxiliary outputs
- Auxiliary power: 110 V and 230 V sockets, RCD and protective devices tested
- Controls and wiring: switches, remote controls, leads and connectors
- Alternator and exciter faults diagnosed and repaired
How it works
Serviced where it works, or brought in.
Tell us what you've got
Make, model, hours run and what it's doing. Send a photo of the rating plate if you can.
On site or in the workshop
Routine servicing is usually done on site. Bigger repairs come back to our Grimsby workshop.
Service and test
Engine serviced, welding and power outputs tested, faults quoted before any extra work.
Back to work
Service record and test results logged in OneArc, with a reminder when the next service is due.
Questions
Common questions
How often should an engine-driven welder be serviced?
Follow the engine manufacturer's service intervals, which are usually set by running hours. Machines on hire or heavy site use often need servicing more than once a year. We'll set a schedule from the hours it does.
Do you work on site generators as well as welder generators?
Yes. Diesel and petrol site generators get the same engine servicing and output testing.
Can you cover the machine while it's off site?
Our sister company Monarc Hire can supply a replacement while yours is in the workshop.
Engine-driven
Generator due a service, or won't start?
Send us the make, model and hours and we'll book it in on site or in the workshop.
