PAT testing.

Grinders, drills, extension leads and site lights take a beating in a workshop. We inspect and test them with calibrated instruments, label them and give you a register, on the same visit as everything else.

Why it matters

Damaged tools cause shocks and fires.

Portable electrical equipment in a fabrication shop lives a hard life: dropped, dragged, run over and caught in spatter. Most faults on portable equipment are damaged cables and plugs, and most can be found by a proper visual inspection.

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require electrical equipment to be maintained so it's safe. Inspection and testing, recorded, is how you show it.

Welding power sources need their own standard, BS EN IEC 60974-4. PAT covers everything else on the floor.

How it works

Booked, tested, certified, remembered.

  1. Book

Call, email or use the form. We agree a date that suits production and confirm what's on site.

  2. Test

Our engineers test on site, or in our Grimsby workshop if you'd rather send kit in.

  3. Certify

Certificate and sticker per asset. Anything that fails comes with the reason and a repair quote.

  4. Remind

Everything goes into OneArc. We remind you before it's due again.

Who's competent to do this test? Qualifications and competence

How often should workshop tools be PAT tested?

It depends on the environment and use. Construction and heavy industrial use usually justifies more frequent testing than an office. The IET Code of Practice gives guidance and we'll suggest intervals.

Do you test welding machines as part of PAT?

No. Welding power sources are tested to BS EN IEC 60974-4, which covers the welding circuit as well as the supply. We do both on the same visit.

Can you repair failed tools?

Yes. We repair power tools in-house and supply replacements from trusted brands.

While we're there

Need wire, tips or discs? We'll bring it.

We supply the consumables as well as test the kit. Add them to the order and they come with the engineer, matched to the machines we've just tested.

Free site audit

Would your workshop pass an HSE inspection today?

Most firms find out when they fail one. We'll walk your site for free and tell you what's due, what's overdue and what's missing. No obligation, no hard sell.
