Calibration and validation.

If the display says 200 amps, it should be giving you 200 amps. We prove it, and you get the certificate your weld procedures, EN 1090 and ISO 3834 audits depend on.

Why it matters

An uncalibrated machine can't prove a single weld.

Your welding procedure specifications set current, voltage and wire feed speed ranges. If nobody has checked that the machine delivers what its display shows, nobody can prove the welds were made inside those ranges.

That puts EN 1090 and ISO 3834 certification at risk, and it's the first thing a notified body or customer auditor asks to see. A rejected weld, a failed audit or a halted job costs far more than the test.

Calibration and validation to BS EN IEC 60974-14 measures the machine's real output against traceable master instruments, records the results, and tells you whether the set meets its accuracy grade.

What we check

Measured, not assumed.

  • Welding current measured against the displayed value across the machine's range
  • Arc voltage measured against the displayed value
  • Wire feed speed verified on MIG/MAG sets
  • Accuracy grade checked to the standard or precision grade your quality system needs
  • Adjustment where the manufacturer allows it, so the machine is brought back into tolerance
  • Traceable instruments, with their own calibration on record

What you get

Paperwork that stands up.

  • Calibration certificate per machine, with measured values and pass or fail
  • Calibration sticker on the machine showing the next due date
  • Certificates uploaded to OneArc so you can pull them up in an audit
  • A clear reason and repair quote for anything that can't be brought into tolerance

How it works

Booked, tested, certified, remembered.

  1. Book

Call, email or use the form. We agree a date that suits production and confirm what's on site.

  2. Test

Our engineers test on site, or in our Grimsby workshop if you'd rather send kit in.

  3. Certify

Certificate and sticker per asset. Anything that fails comes with the reason and a repair quote.

  4. Remind

Everything goes into OneArc. We remind you before it's due again.

Who's competent to do this test? Qualifications and competence

Read the guide: How often should welding equipment be calibrated?

How often should a welding machine be calibrated?

BS EN IEC 60974-14 doesn't fix an interval. Annual is the norm, and most quality systems (EN 1090, ISO 3834) expect it. If your WPS or customer specifies something tighter, we work to that.

What's the difference between calibration and validation?

Validation checks the machine is within tolerance and records the result. Calibration goes further and adjusts the machine back into tolerance where the manufacturer allows it. We do both and the certificate says which.

Do you calibrate all brands?

Yes. Any modern MIG/MAG, TIG or MMA power source, whatever the badge. We're also an approved service partner for Lincoln Electric, Migatronic and EWM.

Can you do it on site?

Yes. Most calibration is done on site with portable traceable instruments, so machines stay where they're used. You can also send them to our Grimsby workshop.

While we're there

Need wire, tips or discs? We'll bring it.

We supply the consumables as well as test the kit. Add them to the order and they come with the engineer, matched to the machines we've just tested.

Free site audit

Would your workshop pass an HSE inspection today?

Most firms find out when they fail one. We'll walk your site for free and tell you what's due, what's overdue and what's missing. No obligation, no hard sell.
